Did you ever buy anything cheap that ended up being a good value?

I haven’t. There is always a reason why it is priced cheap. Something is not as it appears, something is missing, or the product is not the quality you were promised it was.

The old adage is true…YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Don’t ask yourself; “Why is this item more expensive?” Ask yourself; “Why is this product cheaper?” What has been taken away that makes it so cheap?

Some items I consider disposable. If I’m going to use it one time and throw it away. I buy the cheap item.

It doesn’t make any sense to buy something cheap if it’s a long term use item. I bought a cheap ridding lawn mower one time when I was a young chap. It worked ok for the first year. Then after the first year every time I needed to cut the grass I had to fix something. I would spend half a day on Friday running down parts and half my day Saturday repairing the thing before I could even cut the grass. I wish I could say this was the last time I had to learn this lesson but I still do something stupid every so often.

Buying a cheap air conditioner is not smart! A central air-conditioning system is probably the next most expensive item most of us purchase next to our car. A cheap air conditioning system will last about 7 years. In that seven years you will need to take off work and meet a technician at your home to have it repaired on several occasions. After about 7 years you will finally have a major failure, get fed up, and replace it again.

If you choose to purchase a quality system from a reputable company who installs the system correctly the new system will keep your home more comfortable. Your comfort concerns will be solved, you will have far fewer problems, and the system will last more than twice as long.

Also you can’t just shop brand only when it comes to a central air conditioning system. It’s not like buying a car. A Honda Accord is an Accord, built in the same factory by the same robots. This is not the case when it comes to having an air conditioning system installed in your home. The equipment is just part of the system.

So what is the best price? Do the math. How many cheap systems will you have to purchase and how much will the repairs cost you over your lifetime. I call this the lifetime comfort cost. I guarantee … you will be more comfortable, have far less aggravation and save money with the quality system.

Fred Canady – President/ Owner www.canadys.com
Fred Canady was born and reared in Chatham County. “My first business venture was selling seeds. I must have been 7 or 8 years old. I ordered this big box of flower and vegetable seeds from an ad in the back of a magazine. I sold seeds door to door. My mom had to end up paying for the seeds. I think it must have been the wrong time of the year to sell seeds.” Fred’s interest in the air conditioning started early. As a freshman in high school Fred built and entered a solar heated home in the local science fair.

After graduating from Savannah Christian School in 1979 Fred worked in the field as an apprentice and attended night school. In 1981 Fred graduated from Savannah Technical College. Fred worked as the service manager at one Savannah’s larger companies before leaving to start his own company.

In 1986 Fred opened Precision Air “We had just moved into our first home. I was 26 and my wife was pregnant with our first child. I just quit my job and started the business.” I worked 24/7. I don’t think we took a vacation for 5 years.” The primary focus in the early years was residential new construction. “My garage was my shop and my truck was my office on wheels.” After a couple of years the company had outgrown the garage, Fred rented a warehouse on the southwest side of savannah. In 1997 construction was completed on the present day warehouse and office complex in Richmond Hill. The company had grown to more than 20 employees and was performing a mix of residential new construction, commercial new construction and service. In 1998 Fred decided he had had enough of the new construction side of the business. He changed the name of the company to “Canady’s” and downsized the company. “We just couldn’t compete in residential new construction work. It wouldn’t allow us to use quality material, provide good pay and benefits for our employees and make a profit.” I had to get back to what I loved; service and replacement.” Fred changed the direction of the company and never looked back.” Life and business is all about doing the best you can for others; our family, our coworkers and our customers. That’s what drives me.”!

”Over the last 10 years Canady’s has grown to become one of the most recognized and successful air conditioning businesses in the state. Canady’s installs a higher percentage of Trane high efficiency equipment than any company in the sate of Georgia. Canady’s is a Trane Comfort Specialist founding member and their customer satisfaction score has never been below 97% in 10 years. We are having a ball! When you constantly get rave reviews from your customers, your coworkers are excited about work and you’re getting recognized by your peers it’s just a lot of fun! Fred and his wife Kandi have 5 children. They are members of Savannah Christian Church. Fred is active in the industry as the local chairman of CAAG. He is a member of ACCA, BDR and The Service Roundtable. Fred enjoys coaching youth baseball, weight lifting, dirt biking, hunting, fishing and traveling.
